Ever struggle to identify your role in the equitable and sustainable food movement?
I recently spoke to someone who felt misaligned with the expectations of a role they were playing. I remember having a similar experience in the past.
I also remember the relief I felt when I finally understood that you don’t need to try and do it all.
That’s because we’re working in community with one another. And we all have different roles to play.
This conversation reminded me to return to Deepa Iyer’s Social Change Map, a phenomenal framework and tool that helps people—and organizations— clarify values and identify roles in their work. This framework identifies ten roles that people and organizations often show up in as they approach collaborations in their respective movements:
- Storytellers
- Guides
- Weavers
- Experimenters
- Frontline responders
- Visionaries
- Builders
- Caregivers
- Disrupters
- Healers
